The Power of Women and Children NPC Joins Civic Organisations to Protest Johannesburg’s Ongoing Water Crisis

Today, The Power of Women and Children NPC stood in solidarity with other civic organisations and community members in a powerful protest addressing Johannesburg’s ongoing water crisis. The demonstration, held in the heart of the city, brought together concerned residents demanding urgent action to restore consistent and safe water supply to affected communities.

Carrying placards and chanting for change, protestors called on the City of Johannesburg to prioritise access to clean water — a basic human right. The gathering culminated in the handing over of a memorandum to the Mayor of Johannesburg, outlining key concerns and recommendations for immediate intervention.

Speaking after the handover, representatives from The Power of Women and Children NPC emphasised that the water shortages disproportionately impact women and children, who often bear the burden of fetching water and maintaining household hygiene under challenging conditions.

The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for sustainable solutions, community empowerment, and accountability from local authorities.
