Nourishing Hope: Outreach! Joins Forces with Gift of the Givers and Power of Women and Children NPC to Feed Little Bellies in Lehae

On Monday, 12th May 2025, the streets of Lehae Township buzzed with joy and gratitude as a powerful collaboration between Outreach!, Gift of the Givers, and the Power of Women and Children NPC brought hope—and nutrition—to the youngest members of the community. In a deeply meaningful initiative, the trio of organizations donated Nestlé Cerelac to 20 Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centres in Lehae, with the goal of improving childhood nutrition and supporting learning through nourishment.

A Meal for Every Child

The donation was both practical and heartfelt: each child attending the ECD centres received two boxes of Nestlé Cerelac to take home, ensuring they would have access to quality nutrition beyond the classroom walls. In addition, each centre received 10 extra boxes to be cooked and served during school hours, guaranteeing that every child would receive a nutritious meal during their time at the ECD.

For many children in disadvantaged communities, early childhood education is not just about ABCs and nursery rhymes—it’s a lifeline. It’s a space for structure, growth, safety, and importantly, a reliable meal. As the coordinators of the initiative stressed, “A child cannot learn on an empty stomach.” This belief formed the foundation of the campaign, underscoring the inseparable link between food security and educational development.

Why Cerelac?

Cerelac, a trusted infant cereal by Nestlé, is packed with essential nutrients such as iron, zinc, and vitamins vital for early growth and brain development. For many undernourished children, even a small daily portion of a fortified food like Cerelac can make a significant difference in their cognitive function, immunity, and overall development.

By choosing Cerelac, the organizations ensured they were not only feeding children but investing in their potential—helping to close the nutrition gap that far too often hinders early learning in low-income communities.

The Power of Collaboration
