Extending Compassion: Celebrating the Adventist AIDS International Ministry’s Impact on Ithemba Labantwana Children’s Home

Mathew 25: 34-40

34Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in, 36I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you visited Me.’

37Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You something to drink? 38When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39When did we see You sick or in prison and visit You?’

40And the King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’

In our series of appreciation, today we want to thank one of our steadfast partners, Adventist AIDS International Ministry (AAIM). The Adventist AIDS International Ministry (AAIM) is an international ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church that brings hope, love, and compassionate care and support to the people touched by the HIV epidemic. It serves the territory of sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean. Chief of its mission is to be an avenue of Christ’s love, grace, compassion, and mercy in dealing with those affected by the Human Immune Virus (HIV) and other similar situations. It envisions the eradication of new HIV infection and support of those affected through collaborative efforts with communities, churches, groups, individuals, and others sharing the same operating principles.

To execute its mandate, the AAIM uses various methods which include:

• Education & Training
• Prevention strategies
• Care for those affected
• Mainstream in all other ministries
• Collaboration & Partnerships

The last of the methods, Collaboration and Partnerships is what we focus on, you see, in the heart of Tshepisong and Lehae Townships, a beacon of hope has been shining brightly for over three years. Since June 2020, the Adventist AIDS International Ministry (AAIM) has been spreading its wings of compassion and care dedicating itself to supporting the Ithemba Labantwana Children’s Home and those Infected and Affected with HIV/AIDS within the community. Through its unwavering commitment to alleviating suffering and fostering a sense of unity, AAIM has been instrumental in transforming lives and instilling a sense of hope and resilience.

The Power of Compassion

At the core of AAIM’s efforts lies the power of compassion and care. By forging strong partnerships with the Ithemba Labantwana Children’s Home and the broader community, AAIM has shown that when like-minded individuals come together with a common purpose, incredible transformations can occur.
