The Power of Women and Children NPC Welcomes Dr. Sekwa Bangwato of Adventist AIDS International Ministry

On the 9th of February 2025, The Power of Women and Children NPC had the distinct honor of hosting Dr. Sekwa Bangwato, the newly appointed Executive Director of Adventist AIDS International Ministry (AAIM), at our Children’s Home, Ithemba Labantwana, located in Tshepisong Township, West Rand. This visit was an important milestone in our ongoing partnership with AAIM, which has been a key supporter of our orphanage and other initiatives aimed at assisting those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS within our communities.

A Legacy of Support and Partnership

Since June 2020, AAIM has played a crucial role in sustaining our mission. Their contributions have enabled us to provide much-needed resources, healthcare, education, and emotional support to the vulnerable children under our care. The partnership between The Power of Women and Children NPC and AAIM has been instrumental in uplifting the lives of over 16 children, ensuring they receive holistic care in a safe and nurturing environment.

AAIM’s support extended until November 2024, marking four and a half years of unwavering commitment to the well-being of orphaned and vulnerable children. This collaborative effort has addressed critical needs such as:

Nutritional support: Providing balanced meals to ensure the healthy development of children.
Healthcare assistance: Facilitating access to essential medical check-ups, treatments, and HIV/AIDS awareness programs.
Educational empowerment: Funding school fees, learning materials, and skill development programs.
Psychosocial support: Offering counseling and mentorship to help children cope with loss and trauma.

Dr. Sekwa Bangwato’s Visit: A Mission to Assess and Strengthen Impact

Dr. Bangwato’s visit was part of her familiarization tour of the projects AAIM has been supporting. Her objective was to assess firsthand the impact of AAIM’s assistance, understand the challenges faced by the children and caregivers, and explore how the organization can continue making a meaningful difference.

During the visit, she interacted with the children, caregivers, and community members, gaining valuable insights into the day-to-day operations of the home. She expressed her admiration for the resilience of the children and the dedication of the staff at Ithemba Labantwana. Her presence provided a renewed sense of hope and encouragement for everyone involved in this noble cause.
