65 Smiles in Lehae: Power of Women and Children Joins the 50/50 Campaign

At The Power of Women and Children NPC (POFWC), every act of kindness is a step toward restoring hope and dignity in our communities. This week, under the leadership of our Liaison Officer Mr. Tom Fikiri, we proudly joined the inspiring 50/50 Campaign organized by Dimitri Papadakis in partnership with the Johannesburg Mini and Junior City Council.

The mission is simple but powerful: 50 meals for 50 days — ensuring that children who need nourishment the most receive it consistently and with love.

65 Meals, 2 ECD Centres, One Community United

Today was a beautiful and emotional milestone.

Instead of 50 meals, we delivered 65 nutritious meals to two Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centres in Lehae Township:

For many of these little ones, this meal is more than just food — it is comfort, security, and reassurance that someone cares. In communities where access to consistent nutrition remains a daily challenge, partnerships like these are life-changing.

Gratitude Above All

We are truly thankful to God for granting us the opportunity to serve. Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces reminded us why we do what we do. Their laughter filled the classrooms, and their joy filled our hearts.

At POFWC, we believe that a fed child is a hopeful child. When children are nourished, they are better able to learn, grow, and dream.

Why This Matters

Lehae Township, like many underserved communities, faces ongoing challenges:

Limited access to stable nutrition
High unemployment rates
Financial strain on families
Under-resourced ECD centres

By supporting ECD centres, we are investing at the most critical stage of development — laying the foundation for a stronger future generation.
